Developed by the Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation, CommuniCARE is a program designed to teach youth about philanthropy. Each year, a team of Girls Inc. girls are tasked with identifying an issue in the community that they are concerned about and raising funds to support organizations working toward that issue. Each dollar raised by the team is matched with $15 by the Harold & Arlene Schnitzer CARE Foundation. The girls then use the funds they’ve raised to make grants to worthy organizations through an an application process that they direct.
The 2013 CommuniCARE Team meets every other week on Tuesday beginning January 8, 2013, 4-5:30 at the Girls Inc. office.
